PrintIT! has been created to attract young people into the print, paper manufacturing or related industries. Currently the average age of an employee in these industries is early 50s which means that the employer in not preparing to sustain and grow existing skills for the future
The PrintIT! aim is to engage schools with industry, encouraging youngsters to take a keen look at a career in print or a related industry in the form of twinning with a local employer. Twinning does not have to be mapped to the PrintIT! competition, we would like to see long term relations being established between school and business.
The secondary school involved with PrintIT! is given an industry-focused project which is mapped to either GCSE or A level Graphic Products, Product Design or Media Studies curriculums. Student submissions are put forward for judging by industry leads which may result in winning prizes for themselves and their schools.
All that is needed is a discussion with the teacher about what they would like and what you can offer. There are twinning guides on the PrintIT! website.
